During a visit to our production facility in Ichtershausen, District Administrator Petra Enders learned how modern IT hardware is manufactured in Thuringia and finds its way out into the world.
At our Ichtershausen facility, we manufacture high-performance AI and storage servers as well as preconfigured appliances for specialized IT infrastructures such as Azure Local, Local AI , and Object Storage. Our manufacturing portfolio also includes kiosk systems for self-service in the franchise restaurants, retail, and other industries, as well as touch PCs and touch monitors —among other applications—for machine control in industrial settings.
During a tour of the production facilities, Petra Enders spoke with Plant Manager Stefan Trenkle, Production Manager Enrico Dietz, and Wolfgang Lang, who is responsible for human resources and finance, about the site and its development. The Ichtershausen facility began operations in 2007 and has undergone extensive expansion since then. The factory buildings are located right at the entrance to town and are now as much a part of the community as the historic needle factory, the community center, and the local history museum. With about 50 employees, we are also a major employer for the town and the region. In addition, we train young people there to become IT systems electronics technicians, certified warehouse specialists, and warehouse logistics specialists.
Last year, approximately 300,000 euros were invested in the renovation of a production hall. Fire safety systems, electrical systems, and network infrastructure were upgraded, and a more durable ESD floor was installed. These measures have created more space and flexibility for the production of large-format systems. Shorter material handling routes, more efficient processes, and additional capacity reserves improve productivity and workplace safety. A 95-kW photovoltaic system also supports a more sustainable energy supply for the site.
Many servers, kiosks, and touchscreen devices are produced through manual and semi-manual manufacturing processes. In this process, various components—such as housings, circuit boards, fans, cables, and other electronic parts—are assembled into customer-specific solutions. “We’re pleased that local policymakers are interested in our production site and the technology developed here,” says Wolfgang Lang.“Ichtershausen stands for industrial manufacturing, technical expertise, and the experience of our employees.”
The Thüringer Allgemeine reported in detail on October 14, 2026, about the district administrator’s visit and highlighted in particular the connection between regional manufacturing, craftsmanship, and high-tech products in high demand internationally. The full article is available here.
